Welsh authorities sign up for national roadworks database

Local authorities in Wales are signing up for Elgin’s national roadworks.org platform after the Welsh Government agreed to fund their involvement.

Elgin will install its adaptor onto all participating authority street works registers in Wales and national roadwork’s information service will then be displayed on the Traffic Wales website. Authorities will also be able to display this information on their own websites at a more local level.

Thirteen of the 22 Welsh authorities are already participating in the scheme, with another two due to go live this month. They will all have permanent access to the current roadworks facilities plus temporary access to the full range of roadworks.org facilities on an extended trial basis.

Elgin chairman Shane O'Neill said: "This is an opportunity for local authorities to have access to a map based roadworks platform and for Wales to have its own national view of works currently taking place displayed on the national travel and traffic site."
