Vinci will now start the 25-year contract in January after Transport Minister Norman Baker (pictured) confirmed that Hounslow Council will receive up to £349.5m of Government funding towards the project.
The Private Finance Initiative funding will allow work to start on:
- road surface improvement and maintenance,
- footway improvement and maintenance,
- street lighting improvement and maintenance,
- removal of graffiti and fly tipping
Baker said: “Well maintained local networks which work well for all road users – motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and public transport passengers – are vital for communities and encourage businesses to thrive.
“The funding this Government has agreed will bring better, safer roads and more reliable journeys to the people of Hounslow.
"This contract will see the condition of Hounslow’s roads greatly improved and will include the maintenance of footways, bridges, street lighting and traffic signals.
“I very much look forward to seeing the improvements this vital funding will bring.”
