Top gun on the move: McInroy leaving RSMA

04/01/2023 | CHRIS AMES

Road Safety Markings Association (RSMA) chief executive Stu McInroy is to leave the organisation to take up the equivalent post at the Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA).

Mr McInroy (pictured) will take over the role in the second quarter of 2023, replacing Kevin Minton, who announced his retirement in August 2022 and will work alongside Mr McInroy for a period to achieve a smooth handover.

He will report to the CPA’s governing Council and work alongside its president, Brian Jones, and chairman Steven Mulholland.

Mr Jones said: ‘On behalf of CPA Council, I congratulate Stu on his appointment and I wish him every success in his new role. Myself, the chairman and the CPA Council are very much looking forward to Stu joining the CPA team.

‘CPA Council is also looking forward to new opportunities and developments, and supporting CPA members under Stu’s direction. This builds on the excellent work that Kevin Minton and the CPA team have carried out for the association.’

Mr McInroy has been chief executive at the RSMA since 2018. He was previously a senior officer in the Royal Air Force, where he worked in programme management, strategic policy, regulation/governance and leading-edge technology.

He said: ‘I'm delighted to be joining the CPA and look forward very much to working with the CPA Council, association members and staff, to protect and promote the interests of the construction plant-hire sector.’

The CPA described itself as the leading trade association for the plant-hire sector in the UK, with over 1,800 members who supply 85% of hired plant to the construction industry.

It publishes a wide range of guidance documents which are distributed widely throughout the construction industry and many are available for immediate free download from the CPA website at www.cpa.uk.net.

The December issue of Highways magazine includes a preview of the RSMA’s annual conference, next month.
