Ringway West Unitaries has secured an eight-year extension worth up to £16m to its highway maintenance and services contract for the ‘picturesque’ A417/A419 link.
It said the 24-mile stretch of road, which connects Swindon, Cirencester, Cheltenham and Gloucester, forms an important strategic link between the M4 and M5 and is ‘arguably one of the most picturesque Highways England Trunk roads as it crosses the Cotswolds’.
The firm has provided maintenance services and major maintenance capital improvement projects to the design, build, finance and operate (DBFO) company since 1996 and the extension will take the contract up to the end of March 2026.
By this time, Ringway will have provided routine management, maintenance services and major maintenance capital improvement projects, using Eurovia Surfacing and Eurovia Specialist Treatments as supply chain partners, on behalf of client RMS for the whole duration of the DBFO contract, before it is handed back to Highways England at the end of the concession.
Chris Edwards, Ringway West Unitaries divisional manager, said: ‘It is a major achievement to have been awarded such a prestigious contract covering the full 30 years, and it is recognition of the team’s dedication and hard work that RMS has chosen to give us an extension for this final eight-year period.’
