Partnership signed between ITS (UK) and Transport Technology Forum

17/02/2023 | DOMINIC BROWNE

Intelligent Transport Systems UK (ITS UK) and the Transport Technology Forum (TTF) have signed a partnership agreement, which includes a plan for a new webinar series.

The Transport2030 Webinar Series, which will be led by ITS UK on behalf of the TTF, will explore the key trends and challenges facing the transport sector up to 2030.

It will include four sessions looking at the changing factors around the workforce, technology, global markets, and procurement and funding.

Under the new alliance, the two groups said they would 'work more closely together to bring the worlds of traffic and highway managers, data and technology suppliers and operators, and innovators and researchers together'.

Max Sugarman, chief executive of ITS (UK), said: 'It is great to announce a new partnership with the Transport Technology Forum and, through that, the Department for Transport today, an agreement that will better support ITS UK’s members in rolling out new technologies across the transport network.

'The new partnership will see more engagement between ITS UK and the Transport Technology Forum, supported by DfT, Innovate UK and delivered by LCRIG, whilst also giving ITS UK the space to develop its voice as the leading advocate of the intelligent transport sector.

'We believe this arrangement will bring even greater benefits to our membership and the wider industry, with ITS UK providing a conduit between members and government, and also being able to speak independently on the sector’s behalf. This is an important move to make, as ITS UK progresses to the next stage of its development.'

Steve Gooding, RAC Foundation director and chair of the Transport Technology Forum, said: 'The development of a more joined-up relationship between the DfT and ITS UK can only be a good thing, in particular supporting the work of the DfT/Innovate UK-funded Transport Technology Forum with its mission to bring traffic technology developers together with their potential highway authority customers ultimately to the benefit of all road users.

'With greater clarity of responsibilities and co-ordination of activities we’re all better placed to address challenges and seize the opportunities ahead.'
