Construction industry charity the Lighthouse Club is challenging the industry to raise £1.5 million through a National Lighthouse Day.
This year is the 60th anniversary of the charity which helps to raise money for individuals or families of those within the construction industry who are unable to work through accident, illness or injury.
Money raised on National Lighthouse Day will flow into three funding areas to support the construction community. They are: Welfare and benevolence fund; Education and training fund; Health and safety innovation fund.
The charity’s CEO Bill Hill said: “2016 is the 60th anniversary of the Lighthouse Club and as such we would like to make this year a definitive one in our ongoing evolution. Therefore, I am challenging the industry to help us raise a significant amount of funds through a National Lighthouse Day. If we can reach the 360,000 companies in construction and just one per cent register for a National Lighthouse Day, who in turn raise just £500 each, then we could see the charity raise £1.5m. I would encourage everyone in the sector to sign up to help us reach our target”
