Bill Hill has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity.
Hill (pictured) takes over from Sue Nelson, interim chief executive, on 1 July 2013.
He has had a successful career in the private sector, initially training as an accountant, before moving into the charity sector. He has held senior management positions with Hewlett Packard and Sage and has extensive experience in marketing and customer services. Hill has also been managing director of two companies.
A long-term charity volunteer, in 2009 he joined Wooden Spoon, the rugby charity for children, as chief executive. He spent four years building up the organisation, giving the charity a new direction, increasing operating efficiency and delivering growth in terms of fundraising and profile.
Hill will be spending a lot of time out in the charity’s branches as well as with current and potential sponsors raising both its profile and essential funds.
Robert Smith, from the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, said: “We would like to thank Sue Nelson for her time with us. She has done a fantastic job since joining us in August last year for what was an initial six-month part time assignment. During this period Sue has played an important part in the formation of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity and the restructure of the Lighthouse Club and the Lighthouse Club Benevolent Fund.
“She has also had great success in bringing major new corporate sponsors on board and started a number of new relationships which will bring in significant funds to the charity in the future. These are exciting times for the charity and we are all confident about the future.”
