On hearing the news, Allister said: “I am surprised and delighted to receive this award. I have been privileged to work with a number of inspirational and dedicated professionals across the UK in HTMA, CIHT and Roads Service. I believe this award recognises both their achievements, and the importance of highways and transportation to our society.”
He continued: “HTMA has made significant progress in raising its profile and in fulfilling its aim of promoting the positive contribution that the highways maintenance industry makes to the UK’s economy. Working with others in the Association, I believe we have improved the perception of highway maintenance and have developed constructive relationships between the contracting industry and Whitehall, Ministers and other key industry figures.”
Sue Percy, chief executive of CIHT, stated: “This award is a clear recognition of the hard work, dedication and leadership that Geoff has shown throughout his career. Geoff has always shown a real desire and commitment to CIHT and continues to make a great contribution to the work of the Institution and the sector as a whole.”
