FM Conway secures bumper City deal worth up to £100m

19/04/2022 | DOMINIC BROWNE

FM Conway has won a five-year term contract worth an estimated £10m a year with the City of London Corporation, to provide highway improvements and maintenance works.

The contract will run from 1 July 2022, with the option of a further five-year extension potentially bringing the value up to £100m.

Under the deal, FM Conway will be tasked with high-quality construction and maintenance services encompassing a wide range of assets such as carriageways, footways, bridges, street lighting and drainage systems.

The City of London is an historic area of the UK’s capital featuring unique infrastructure challenges as a result of its heritage.

In addition to developing and maintaining public spaces within the square mile, the City of London Corporation is also responsible for over 10,000 acres of urban green spaces.

John Holliday, contract director at FM Conway, said: 'We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigous opportunity to partner with the City of London Corporation and provide our expertise to the Square Mile.

'FM Conway has continually shown its desire to innovate and adapt for the future and we are excited to collaborate with the City for a more sustainable London.'

FM Conway has a strong record of delivering high-profile projects on London’s historic infrastructure, including the recent refurbishment of London Bridge.

This latest contract is founded upon a partnership approach and the parties 'will work together to reinforce the City’s global reputation as a vibrant and sustainable hub in the heart of London,' FM Conway said.

James Tallon, managing director at FM Conway, said: 'This is a pivotal moment in FM Conway’s future and an incredibly exciting partnership for us. The City is steeped in tradition and yet always reinventing itself, and together we will work closely to build on our own sustainability credentials to further establish the City of London as an iconic part of our capital for the future.

'With our continued drive for smart solutions, our ability to adapt through new technologies and our drive for low carbon alternatives, we will work with the City of London Corporation to deliver an accessible, sustainable and well maintained public realm that respects the City’s unique heritage.'

FM Conway has a Net Zero strategy to drive the strategic development and the company is helping lead the way in materials innovation to adapt to the challenges of carbon reduction.
