The A46 in the Midlands region is in line for upgrades investments a government minister has revealed.
Local government secretary James Brokenshire was responding to questions in a parliamentary session about the Midlands Engine strategy, when he revealed business cases were being developed for the road network in the area.
During the session, Nigel Huddleston Conservative MP for Mid Worcestershire asked about any work being carried out with the Department for Transport (DfT) to improve key arteries in the region such as the A46.
Mr Brokenshire said: 'I am having a number of conversations across government about the delivery of that infrastructure.
'He highlights the A46 corridor. Initial work has shown that 700,000 jobs could be created by improvements. The case for individual schemes on the route is being developed.'
He also reiterated the Government's commitment to delivering the Midlands Engine was backed by '£392m for local growth projects to create more jobs and prosperity, and a £20m Midlands skills package'.
