Colas recognised the achievements of its own employees at an internal awards event earlier this week.
The first ever ‘Our People Awards’ – an internal award recognition scheme for employees – took place at the London Transport Museum.
Shortlisted individuals and teams from across the business attended the ceremony, which saw Colas chief executive Lee Rushbrooke reveal the winners and runners-up for each of the six categories.
Rushbrooke said: “At Colas, our people are at the heart of what makes us great, and it was a pleasure to present the Colas Our People Awards. Congratulations to all of our winners and runners-up. They showed real commitment and dedication to Colas, truly representing our company values.”

Winner: Claire Shepherd (CVU)

Winner: Michael Holmes (Leeds)
Runner-up: Tom Garrett (Portsmouth)
Community involvement
Winners: Barry Pritchard, Steve Lancaster and Judith Byrne (Newcastle)
Runner-up: Linzi Stean (Portsmouth)
Donna Hitchcock, Colas HR associate director and sponsor of Colas’ Make it Happen People Team, which spearheaded the new employee recognition scheme, said: “Incredibly there were over 100 nominations received from across all areas of the business. Being nominated, let alone shortlisted for an award is an incredible achievement, and one all of our nominees should be proud of.”
